neurocare SAM
Mobile Bluetooth neurofeedback system with standardized neurofeedback protocols for frequency band and SCP training
neurocare SAM – Simplifying Neurofeedback in Clinical Practice
neurocare SAM is our new neurofeedback software, developed in combination with a compact Bluetooth EEG amplifier. It provides standardized protocols for clinical use. The name SAM stands for Self-Regulation and Attention Monitoring.
Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback used in behavioral therapy, designed for individuals with impaired self-regulation of brain activity. This is often seen in neuropsychiatric conditions such as ADHD or epilepsy. Based on operant learning, neurofeedback provides feedback on unconscious brain activity, helping individuals learn to perceive and regulate it more effectively. This process can lead to measurable changes in cognition, emotion, and behavior—known as neuroplasticity.
With neurocare SAM, neurofeedback becomes more accessible and efficient. The wireless amplifier, featuring active electrodes, reduces preparation time and limits artifacts at the electrode level—delivering high-quality, reliable signals across all supported protocols. Developed in collaboration with clinicians and researchers, the software combines evidence-based applications with a user-friendly and intuitive interface.
neurocare SAM is designed to simplify previously complex and time-consuming procedures, giving clinicians more time to focus on patient care. At the same time, the flexible software allows customization of analyses and protocol settings to suit individual needs.
Clinical experience and mechanisms
In our neurocare clinics, neurofeedback is primarily used to treat ADHD and sleep disorders with “standard” protocols (SMR, SCP, theta/beta). Based on clinical experience and initial empirical findings, tinnitus (Jensen M. et al., 2023), autism (Klöbl M. et al., 2023) and trauma (Dr. Edith Schneider, Stuttgart) may prove to be further areas of application.
Learning and effect mechanisms can differ between the various neurofeedback protocols. While SMR neurofeedback targets sleep-associated patterns in the EEG and is typically used more as a conditioning approach, SCP neurofeedback could be a tool to improve self-regulation skills on a cognitive, emotional and behavioral level by strengthening fronto-striatal networks.
In contrast to other exogenous neuromodulation approaches that stimulate the brain (e.g. TMS, tDCS), neurofeedback is an endogenous approach. In the long term, the combination of different approaches can facilitate successful treatment.

neurocare SAM - the software
neurocare SAM transforms therapy into an enganging, visually guided journey, led by a friendly companion named SAM who supports patients throughout the sessions. This strengthens their emotional connection to the therapy and boosts motivation to stay committed.
The software is based on standardized protocols (SCP, Theta/Beta, SMR) and supports you with automated analyses and flexible session planning.

neurocare SAM - the ampifier
Our newest neurofeedback system is lightweight, powerful, and only 8 cm wide. The compact amplifier can be easily worn on the body with a strap or clip.
neurocare SAM's active electrodes, delivers accurate measurements of Slow Cortical Potentials (SCP) and Frequency Bands, with state-of-the-art artefact filtering controls.
The amplifier sends measurement data to your computer wirelessly using Bluetooth.
