Neurofeedback is a special biofeedback procedure within behavioral therapy and is used for people whose brain's ability to self-regulate is limited. This is the case with many neuropsychiatric disorders such as epilepsy or ADHD. It is based on operant learning and gives patients feedback on unconscious brain activity. In this way, they learn to perceive and regulate it in a targeted manner, which leads to changes in cognition, emotion and behavior (“neuroplasticity”).

The compact, wireless amplifier with active electrodes significantly shortens preparation time, minimizes the influence of artifacts at the electrodes and thus delivers robust high-quality signals across all protocols. The software was developed in collaboration with clinicians and scientists and combines evidence-based applications with an intuitive, easy-to-understand user interface.

Clinical experience and mechanisms
In our neurocare clinics, neurofeedback is primarily used to treat ADHD and sleep disorders with “standard” protocols (SMR, SCP, theta/beta). Based on clinical experience and initial empirical findings, tinnitus (Jensen M. et al., 2023), autism (Klöbl M. et al., 2023) and trauma (Dr. Edith Schneider, Stuttgart) may prove to be further areas of application.
Learning and effect mechanisms can differ between the various neurofeedback protocols. While SMR neurofeedback targets sleep-associated patterns in the EEG and is typically used more as a conditioning approach, SCP neurofeedback could be a tool to improve self-regulation skills on a cognitive, emotional and behavioral level by strengthening fronto-striatal networks.
In contrast to other exogenous neuromodulatory approaches that stimulate the brain (e.g. TMS, tDCS), neurofeedback is an endogenous approach. In the long term, the combination of different approaches can facilitate successful treatment.

neurocare SAM - the ampifier
Our latest generation of neurofeedback is a lightweight with powerful functionality. Meassuring just 8 cm in diameger - about the size a jar of cream - the amplifier is compact and can be comfortably worn on the body using a strap or clip.
With the the active electrodes, which pre-amplify the signals and thus significantly reduce interference and artifacts, neurocare SAM provides highly precise measurements of slow cortical potentials (SCP) and frequency bands.
The amplifier transmits the measurement data to the computer wirelessly via Bluetooth.

Configuration for your own computer
Are you already equipped with siutable IT infrastructure and would like to use it for neurofeedback? No problem. This configuration includes the innovative neurocare SAM amplifier and the neurocare SAM software package delivered on a USB stick. You provide the computer system that works best for you and set up neurocare SAM on your computer independently.

Would you like to use the neurocare SAM amplifier and the software with your own computer? Please make sure that the following requirements are met:
