Dr Islam completed her medical degree at the University of Western Australia in 2007 with Honours. She completed a Fellowship in General Practice (FRACGP) in 2014.
In the course of working in general practice, she found treating mental health conditions rewarding and decided to train in psychiatry. She completed a Fellowship in Psychiatry (FRANZCP) in 2026, in general adult psychiatry.
Dr Islam has a research interest in postnatal depression and currently completing higher studies in this field. She has worked as a consultant psychiatrist in a number of places including most recently the Macarthur Assertive Team.
Dr Islam has an interest in nutritional and personalised medicine and women's health. She welcomes treating patients for Depression, Bipolar Affective illness, Schizophrenia, Anxiety disorders, PTSD and Adult ADHD.
