Gerard holds a BSc in Biochemistry from Edinburgh University and trained as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG, specializing in Corporate Finance. He later became Finance Director of a technology firm before transitioning to healthcare in 2008 as CFO of The Hospital Group, focused on cosmetic and bariatric surgery.
Following a role as director and investor in a private GP clinic, Gerard co-founded Smart TMS with Dr Leigh Neal in 2015. The company became the leading provider of TMS in the UK and Ireland, treating over 1,000 patients and pioneering treatments for OCD and addictions, as well as launching the first TMS clinic in Ireland and achieving CQC registration.
As CEO, Gerard led the expansion to ten clinics, implemented key systems and processes, and secured recognition from private medical insurers. In 2024, Smart TMS joined the neurocare group, with Gerard continuing to oversee operations.
He remains deeply inspired by the transformative impact TMS has on patients’ lives.
