In recent years, the ability to interact non-invasively with the human brain has led to unprecedented diagnostic and therapeutic opportunities. However, the vast majority of approved interventions and approaches still rely on anatomical landmarks and rarely on the individual structure of networks in the brain, which drastically reduces the potential effectiveness of neuromodulation.

To develop new personalized approaches to neurostimulation, researchers and clinicians need to know whether their stimulation interacts with endogenous network dynamics, whether brain networks are interconnected, and whether this helps to better understand basic science and clinical applications.
