Paul König

Chairman of the Supervisory Board

Paul is one of the founding investors in neurocare and is passionate about improving health care outcomes for sufferers of all mental health issues, especially depression and anxiety.

He is a practising lawyer and Chartered accountant focusing on European Australian businesses through his specialist consulting firm the European Australian Advisory Group.

Paul has Economics and Law Degrees from the Australian National University with post-graduate qualifications as a Solicitor and as a Chartered Accountant and Tax Agent.

He joined PwC (then Coopers & Lybrand) as a graduate in 1981 and quickly rose to partner. After being appointed a Tax Partner in Sydney in 1987 he held numerous senior management positions in PwC Australia including European Liaison Partner, National Managing Partner Tax (1997), Founding Managing Partner of PwC Legal (1999), and National Tax and Legal Service Leader (2000-2005) where he managed more than 1,600 professional partners and staff across Australia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

In 2005 he relocated to Düsseldorf in Germany following his appointment as European Markets Leader for Tax and Legal Services at PwC Eurofirms. He was responsible for service delivery across some 20 countries spanning continental Europe and Ireland generating revenue in excess of € 1 billion.

Paul was also a member of the PwC Global Leadership Team for Tax and Legal Services from 1997 to 2008.

Following his return to Australia in 2008 as the National Inbound Markets Leader, he retired from PwC in 2010 to start the next phase of his life as a private equity investor and business advisor founding the European Australian Advisory Group.

Paul was on the Board of the German Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce for more than 20 years. He held the office of Vice-President and was Chairman of the chamber for many years.

He is also a past director of the European Australian Business Council, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow and Chartered Tax Advisor of the Taxation Institute of Australia and a member of the Law Society of New South Wales.

In 2008 Paul was awarded the Order of the Federal Cross of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz) by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

He is married to Rosemary with three adult sons and enjoys skiing and watersports. He also enjoys expedition travel to remote corners of the world, good wine and classic cars.
